Weekend Update & Today's Long Run

Sorry for being MIA the last few days, it has been crazy at this end with my daughters year end activities. She had her schools year end play end of last week and she did a phenominal job as the lead in her classes play. Then this weekend consisted of dance picture day and her gymnastics year end show.

Here are some pictures from her gymnastics show.....sorry not the greatest pics since I was sitting upstairs in the bleachers.

For this picture my daughter is the one that is far back and to the left on the highest bars:

Here she is next to her coach about to make a summersault on the beam:

And here she is getting her medal, ribbons and final report card:

So I have been one busy mamma which meant no running Saturday and Sunday so I did have a good rest period for today's scheduled long run. Todays long run was only suppose to be 10 miles but I actually ran 13.1 miles................woohoo...............you all know what that means! I just ran the half marathon distance....SWEET! I didn't run it at race pace but atleast I know I an run that distance. Yes this is the first time I have ever ran more than 10 miles and it felt GREAT! I made my long run today because tomorrow I am pretty much out of commission. Well I will do my weights at home in front of the tv. WHY? Well my two teams are playing in the World Cup tomorrow so I just have to watch the games. Yes I know priorities, priorities but right now I need to show my support for my two teams.....if Canada had made it I would need to share the love for 3 teams but unfortunately that did not happen.
So is anyone else follwing the World Cup? Have you had to modify your training schedule for it or am I the only crazy one?

  1. I love to watch gymnastics. You are so lucky to watch your daughter. How exciting. Did you ever do gymnastics? I did but was scared to death of the parallel bars.

As for the World Cup, my dad is in his glory and so excited for every game. His heart is with England.

  2. Oh girl...what an awesome run for you. I agree that actually running the distance you want to accomplish (no matter how fast) builds your confidence and makes the distance seem less scary once you know you can physically do it. I am so pumped for you!!!

  4. Great run!! My farthest is nine miles. I had to cut back when my heart was being odd. Now that I'm back in action..it's just too hot. We hit 100 yesterday, so I'm putting long distances off until the fall now. I'm such a wimp with the heat!

  5. You are not alone--this end-of-school year grind is tough! Great job on getting your nice long run in though.
