Yes that is how I had to start this post because I was so nervous to run this race since I had not run anything longer than a 10K and I was worried about the heat but IT'S DONE!
The day started off great, got up and ready and headed into downtown Toronto. We found street parking right next to a park and boy was my daughter happy. First thing she said..."Great a park. Dada we can come here while mommy is running! I love the races that have parks!" She is too cute!
So we headed down to the start line and we hanged out there for a bit since we were early. Here is a picture of my daughter and I just waiting:
DH got a picture of the crowd that was starting to gather at the start line. You can see the CN Tower there in the background!
This is me nervously waiting. Here I was deep in thought thinking that I should have used the port-a-potty but it was too late now. I was also thinking I wanted this race to start all ready and get over and done with.
So after the race started my family hit the park:
But luckily they arrived back at the finish line to take this not so great picture of me right after I crossed the finish line:
I was so happy they had a mist tent at the end and they actually had one half way through the race.....they really needed to have more:
So this race was hard.....why.....I think the first time you run a new distance its hard. The heat was also affecting me. I made sure to stop at all the water stations and had not one but two cups of water and usually I have one, if that. It was also a very uneventful run, maybe a better word is "boring". It was very flat and boring and since I had never been to that part of Toronto I had no idea what the actual course looked like. But there was one point on the course where you could actually see downtown Toronto from a far and it looked "beautiful". You could see the CN Tower, SkyDome and corporate buildings with the greenery infront and then the lake in front of that....it was so beautiful and peaceful but at times I was running in the middle of nowhere, unable to see where the road was going, all alone. A bit errie actually! There was also very little shade but the last 1 mile was glorious.....we turned and were running right under the highway, it was shade and breezy and a fellow runner was next to me and said "It's that lovely".....I couldn't agree more. It was the perfect last 1 mile.....too bad the other 9 miles weren't like that!
Okay so going into this race I was hoping for a time of 1:20 - 1:30 and I knew I would be happy with anytime close to take. So here are my stats:
Official Time - 1:28:53
Chip Time - 1:28:38
Gender Rank - 124th (out of 708)
Category Rank - 24th (out of 107)
Yes I am happy with my time. Ofcourse its a PR so who wouldn't be happy with a PR! LOL
The race took place at the old Distillery area, which I had never been to and it was really nice. Here are some picture of my daughter enjoying the area:

So it was a very good race, even though the course was boring, if I run it next year (which I plan to) I will know the course so I will know what to expect. But the volunteers where great, there were plenty of water stations which was so needed in the heat but they should have had a few more mist tents along the course.
What is even better is I meet up with a fellow blogger, Cynthia from Balls In The Air, and I meet her cutie pie son. So it was a great day!
Congrats on the PR :)
