Childless = Date Night + New Recipe = Good Times

My daughter is spending a few days at my parents house.....woohoo.....I am childless for a few days! Today is day 2 without her and I am missing her to pieces. My day with her is so scheduled but without her I feel lost at times. I guess that is what happens when you become a mother.

So yesterday DH and I finally made it to a movie that was not a kids movie. We went to see "Knight & Day"....I am a huge Tom Cruise fan......always have been and always will! It was surprisingly very good and funny, I love funny action movies. We both thoroughly enjoyed it!

Yesterday was suppose to be my long run day, it was suppose to be 10 miles so I headed to the gym with no worries, no time restraints since again I am childless, I get there and wowzers the gym was "hot". We have been having a head wave here, it felt like 42C (108F) with the humidity. Now I love the heat but heat at the gym when you want to run 10 miles, not my favourite. So not sure what was wrong with the a/c at the gym but I was sweating bullets, I don't think I have ever sweated so much. So I decided I would run 5 miles and head home to run the other 5 miles. So I ran 5 miles, headed home and when I got here DH was in the pool, so guess what I did.........YUP..........I headed into the pool....LOL It felt so nice with the heat. Today is just as hot so I decided to stay home and run at home. I did a 4 mile interval run and then did my weights and situps and then yes I hit the pool, twice.....LOL Definately have to take advantage of the pool weather while its here.

Dinner today was yummy. Heather over at Where's The Beach, made some yummy looking sweet potatoe fries yesterday and she was kind enough to share her recipe so I decided to try them tonight for dinner. Heather.....DELICIOUS!

Look at this delicious fries:

DH also really enjoyed them....I can't wait to make them for my daughter! So with these delicious sweet potatoe fries I made a yummy salad that had many items from my vegetable garden:

The baby spinach and tomatoes is from my garden. I then put chives and parsley on top but I took the picture before, the chives and parsley is also from my veggie garden. This salad also has red onion, corn, cucumber and grilled zucchini. We had this with grilled chicken breast. Here is my dinner plate:

Yes it was a yummy dinner and I will defiantely be making more sweet potatoe fries!

  2. So glad you enjoyed the fries!!! Those veggies look great. I can't wait for my veggies to ripen (got a late start due to animal eating plants down to nubs...humph). I know you must be missing your girl, but I do hope you're enjoying some "you" time ;-)

  3. How nice to have time at home sans child! It sounds like you are making the most of it.

  4. I want to see that movie. It didn't get the greatest reviews but maybe it was due to when it came out. Didn't it preview the same time as Eclipse?
You are so lucky to have your own garden. Ours was too big and too much work for TEd (I love gardens but don't like gardening). Dinner is all that much better with home grown produce.

  5. Enjoy the alone time. I know you're missing your baby though. My gym was really hot yesterday too. It makes a workout so much harder.
